From Blush to Bold: Our Favorite Pink Paints for National Pink Day

By Jordyn Windnagle - June 23, 2023

June 23rd is National Pink Day in the US! Despite being viewed as a feminine color during the latter part of the 20th century, pink was predominantly gender-neutral prior to the 1950s. Thankfully, this enchanting hue has received a diplomatic return since millennial pink exploded onto the scene in the 2010s.

Felicia Feaster, managing editor for HGTV.com, said in the website’s 2023 Colors and Palettes of the Year, “Pink is becoming the design aficianado's new gray— a works-everywhere shade that lends a flattering glow to people and spaces.”

From soft blush tones to vibrant fuchsias, pink paint has the power to breathe new life into any room, creating an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and playful. Ready to embrace this captivating color in your own living space? Here are a variety of tints that are sure to add style and whimsy to your home!

calamine - farrow and ball

"Calamine is indeed named after the lotion we all used as children to soothe nettle stings and rashes! A light touch of grey prevents this subtle pink from being too sugary, giving a much fresher finish. In smaller rooms it becomes intense, but in larger well lit rooms it feels much more delicate," Farrow and Ball.

pink dynasty - benjamin moore

"A cool pink with youthful charm," Benjamin Moore.

pink ivory - valspar

"A pink hue with purple undertones," Valspar.

mellow coral - sherwin williams

"A softened, dusty blush-tone with hints of orange," Sherwin Williams.

nancy's blushes - farrow and ball

"This true pink is named after the scrumptious rosy cheeks of a much loved young girl called Nancy. The uplifting shade of Nancy’s Blushes certainly grabs your attention when paired with a bright white, but can create quietly charming interiors when contrasted with a soft neutral in shady rooms. Something altogether more graphic happens when counterbalanced with Studio Green," Farrow and Ball.

rachel pink - sherwin williams

"A medium-toned blush pink," Sherwin Williams.

smokey pink - behr

"Smokey Pink is a color that evokes feelings of warmth and comfort making it a great choice for a kitchen, the heart of the home. When mixed with black accents it adds dramatic contrast and balance," Behr.

glamour - sherwin williams

"A fresh neutral with a classic feel," Sherwin Williams.

sulking room pink - farrow and ball

"Not to be seen as overtly pink, but rather a muted rose with enormous warmth, its powdery feel makes it incredibly soft and easy to use with complementary tones. Sulking Room Pink is evocative of the colours so often used in boudoirs, a room named after the French 'bouder' - to sulk," Farrow and Ball.

rangwali - farrow and ball

"The most adventurous of our pinks, Rangwali is incredibly friendly and takes its name from the Holi festival of colours, in which brightly coloured powders are thrown with enthusiasm. Though bright, it has an absorbing depth of colour which is achieved by adding a small dose of black pigment," Farrow and Ball.

secret rendezvous - benjamin moore

"Notes of violet add depth to this rosy hue," Benjamin Moore.

razzle dazzle - benjamin moore

"This eye-catching red features hints of violet," Benjamin Moore.

cosmic pink - valspar

"A bold, saturated pink with neon influences," Valspar.

peony - benjamin moore

"A deep pink that perfectly captures the exuberant, showy nature of its namesake flower," Benjamin Moore.

forward fuchsia - sherwin williams

"Deep dark magenta," Sherwin Williams.
